Best CBD Oil For Dogs in 2020

Before we get started, it’s important that you know what CBD is. CBD, which is short for Cannabidiol, is a naturally occurring compound that’s found in both marijuana and hemp. CBD is non-psychoactive, unlike its phytocannabinoid cousin THC. This means that when you take a CBD oil that’s made from hemp, you won’t get high. Although dogs don’t have to worry about THC showing up on a drug test, if you don’t want your dog to have any THC in their system you can always choose a CBD isolate product.

Find the right product

Trying to figure out what CBD oil to buy in a market that claims every product to be the very best, can be confusing to say the least.

Some things that you need to know are:

  • If a product doesn’t have a certificate of analysis stay away from it
  • The highest price point doesn’t always mean it’s the best product
  • There are certain ingredients in CBD oils for people that aren’t safe for dogs

Like most people, I’m sure you take the time to search for the best quality products at the best price point.

Many people believe that there’s no difference between CBD oils for people and CBD oils for dogs. If a CBD oil only contains CBD and one other base oil such as MCT oil, hemp seed oil or coconut oil, it's safe to give to your dog. You just have to keep in mind that the amount of CBD you take vs how much your dog takes will be different.

There are other CBD oils that contain ingredients that aren’t safe for dogs. Many essential oils and plant extracts that are added for flavoring or medicinal purposes can cause your dog to experience some unwanted side effects. That’s why unless you’re 100% sure that all of the ingredients in a CBD oil made for people is safe for your dog, it might be safer to simply choose an oil that’s been specifically made for dogs or pets. From beef and chicken to peanut butter, there’s a wide range of delicious flavors that make giving your dog CBD easy.

CBD Time!

When it comes time to give your dog a serving of CBD be sure to carefully read the label. If you’re trying to figure out how many mgs of CBD are in a dropper, simply divide the total amount of CBD per bottle by the amount of ml’s it contains. For example, if a bottle contains 1000mg of CBD and is 30ml’s, each dropper contains roughly 33mg of CBD. A serving of that size would be enough to make even a large dog feel a little funky.

If you regularly brush your dog’s teeth you might have an easy time simply placing the oil into their mouth. If your dog isn’t used to having anything besides food or toys in their mouth though, you and your dog may not enjoy that method. An easier way of giving your dog a daily serving of CBD is by making your own CBD pet treats or by simply placing the drops of oil over their treats or food.

So, there you have it!
