How to incorporate CBD into your daily routine

With so many types of CBD products available, from CBD tinctures all the way down to CBD protein powders, it’s tough to decide on the best way to incorporate it into your routine.

CBD shopping shouldn’t be difficult – it’s supposed to be what makes your day easier, not harder.

So how do you decide when, and how, to take it?

It all depends on what you want to use it for, what time of day you want to take it, and what you’re hoping to get out of it.

Let’s take a look:

 

Morning

Lots of people take CBD to help with focus and mental clarity. So if that’s your desired goal for taking CBD, it makes sense to incorporate it into your routine early on – especially because some scientists believe the brain’s peak function occurs around mid-morning.

So if you’re looking to get laser-focused and get some stuff done, morning is probably your best bet for taking CBD.

But what type of CBD should you take in the morning?

There’s a few things to consider:

If you want to add CBD to a morning meal or smoothie, your best bet is using a CBD oil – they’re great for cooking (but be careful not to overheat it).

If you prefer to take it along with your morning supplements, opt for a capsule or gelcap.

We also recommend a broad-spectrum or isolate CBD product for morning time – the trace levels of THC found in full-spectrum CBD oils can cause slight drowsiness, making them better for evening.

Noon

If you're a foodie, right after a big lunch may be the perfect time for your daily CBD – especially given the energy slump many of us feel after eating.

Just like in the morning, if you’re sensitive to THC, you may want to avoid a full-spectrum product – that’ll help keep your energy levels up.

Lots of us crave a little sweet treat after lunch, so why not take that opportunity to enjoy a CBD gummy?

A broad-spectrum gummy will give you the sweetness you crave, along with a healthy serving of CBD goodness. They’re also super portable and inconspicuous, so you can just pull one out of your pocket when you need one.

Dinner time

CBD can work well with savory recipes, so a great dinnertime option is to just add it to your food. This is also the time of day where you can start introducing full-spectrum products.

One thing to keep in mind is that CBD is better absorbed by your body when you take it with fatty foods – CBD dissolves easily in fat, so anything with a high-fat content will help you get more CBD for your buck. Just the excuse you need to whip up some mac ‘n’ cheese or guacamole for dinner!

Before bed

Bedtime is when CBD really shines. At this time of day, unless you’re super sensitive to THC, we definitely recommend a full-spectrum CBD oil. The entourage effect provided by a full-spectrum product is a plus.

Depending on which type of product you get, you’ll want to take it up to 2 hours before bed – depending on the bioavailability of the product.

For example, edibles like gummies or drinks can take up to two hours to fully take effect. So in that case, if you go to bed at 11, you’d want to enjoy a gummy at around 9pm. An oil taken under the tongue will absorb a bit faster, so you’d likely want to take it about 45 minutes before bed.

When you need it

Sometimes, a situation where you want to take CBD will arise that doesn’t fit neatly into one of these timeslots..
